Loan Calculator – on steroids!

There are plenty of loan calculators out there. A good one from Bendigo Bank that copes with extra repayments can be found here, a workbook with some decent loan schedules can be found at Ablebits, along with a tutorial.

But what if you wanted extra extra repayments? What if you have a regular return from a rental or term deposit that you put on the loan? Yes, you could manually edit the templates available, that’s exactly what i started to do before doing a complete make-over. Here it is…

First, if you have it open and don’t see the Details Pane, like this…

hit the Open Group control to open up the Details Pane.

and you should see this…

If you only see this…

then select Adjust Payments from the in-cell droplist as shown above if you want to do more than just calculate from the set rate.

You can play with your repayment amount, add multiple scheduled extra payments, adjust the payment frequency and forecast how much money you’re burning or can save.
